The electric Fiat Panda and the Smart Electric Vehicle (Smart EV) outside the workshop and research & development facility of The Electric Vehicle Company in Guernsey, Channel Islands, Great Britain.
The Electric Vehicle Company successfully converts petrol powered cars to battery power by removing the engine and installing lithium batteries and an electric motor.
A computer controls the battery output. These cars have a range of at least 60 miles, which is more than adequate for a daily driving range in Guernsey.
The Smart EV has an energy equivalency rating of 270 mpg. It contains 24 lithium batteries that produce 10 to 12 KW.
