Guernsey insects and spiders

Although I have occasionally photographed insects over many years my interest in them is very recent. Photographing and learning about them offers a break from my main pursuit of photographing and identifying marine life. Entomologist Dr. Charles David of the Guernsey Biological Records Centre tells me that most insects cannot be identified from photographs alone. The same applies to many marine species. However Guernsey's insect fauna is more limited so some insect species can be identified in Guernsey as they may be the sole member of their family or genus found on our island. I have no knowledge of insects so some images only contain an image caption. I find that photography is a great benefit for remembering what I have seen and where I have seen it. I hope to grow this gallery of images of insects so that it may help Guernsey residents and visitors identify the species they come across.
