House centipedes, Scutigera coleoptrata, can be found running in and out of the pebble beach by the bathing pools at La Valette. They run very fast and are difficult to photograph. This specimen was on the concrete steps leading up from the beach. It froze long enough that I could photograph it. This specimen was photographed on the 10 June 2007. I have seen this species running along the wall forming Castle Breakwater which forms the northern border of Havelet Bay on Guernsey's east coast.
