This snapper which is called a 'stripey' (Lutjanus carponotatus) in Australia was caught at night on a rod and line by Heron Island marine station researchers. Heron Island, which is a coral key, is about 50 miles to the east of Gladstone, Queensland, Australia and is at the southern end of the Great Barrier Reef.
