The leathery sea squirt, Styela clava, is a species introduced into British waters from Asian waters probably with military ships returning to the U.K. from the Korean war in 1953. It is common in the Queen Elizabeth 2 marina, St. Peter Port, Guernsey.

The ascidian, Ciona intestinalis, grows profusely in the Queen Elizabeth 2 marina, St. Peter Port, Guernsey.  The individual in the centre of the photographed has closed the opening to the oral and the atrial siphon.

One of the most elegant looking ascidian is the light-bulb sea squirt, Clavelina lepadiformis, which was photographed in the Queen Elizabeth 2 marina, St. Peter Port, Guernsey.  This image shows boluses headed for expulsion via the atrial siphon.
