A dahlia anemone, Urticina felina, in a rock pool at La Valette on Guernsey's east coast.
Photographed 10 June 2006. I have seen this beautiful dahlia anemone in this rock pool for several years. Other dahlia anemones I see on the rocky shore at La Valette are often attached to boulders and cobbles and I see them only once. The dahlia anemone in this pool is difficult to see because the surface of the pool is covered in a thick layer of green seaweed called 'velvet horn', Codium sp. during the summer months.
