These two sea slugs, Discodoris planata, were found under a boulder lying on gravel in a low lying area of a promontory or ridge of rock that extends into Belle Greve Bay that is mostly covered by the sea at high tide. As the tide rises, the sea streams over this low lying gravel area where the sea slugs were found. This species has acid glands in its skin presumably to deter predation. It can be identified apart from the similar sea lemon, Archidoris pseudoargus, because Discodoris planata has brown spots under the skirt of the mantle. Photographed on the 19 February 2007. The sea slug, Acanthodoris pilosa, was found during low water in a dry condition in a depression underneath a large boulder in the Fucus serratus (serrated wrack) zone of Belle Greve Bay on Guernsey's east coast on 5 January 2007. This species was identified from photographs by Dr. Julia Nunn of the Ulster Museum and Dr. Bernard Picton of the Ulster Folk & Transport Museum, Northern Ireland.
