sealord > The green sea urchin, Psammechinus miliaris, is the most common sea urchin on the Guernsey seashore. This specimen was photographed from La Valette on Guernsey's east coast. This animal is usually found in rock pools under boulders. The tube feet hold shells and shell debris over the surface of the test and spines to give the animal extra protection. This animal was given to me by Guernsey commercial crab fisherman Clive Brown who pots for crab off Guernsey's south coast.
