This gallery contains images of fish and shellfish that I have acquired or borrowed for photography at Fulton Fish Market in New York City and at fish markets on the USA west coast and at USA seafood trade shows during the period 1982 to 1994. During this time I photographed over 1500 commercial fish and shellfish species.

A pomfret or ray's bream, Brama brama, from New Zealand at the Boston Seafood Show in March 1991. Pomfrets are good to eat but can be parasitised with various nematodes. The same species lives also in the North Atlantic. In some years it swims north of Scotland into the North Sea. Cold weather will kill it and dead pomfrets wash up on the North Sea coast of the United Kingdom. This species was the first fish I photographed at a wholesale fish market. It was on display at Billingsgate Fish Market in London in 1976. One specimen was reportedly washed ashore on the Island of Jersey in the English Channel in early October 2007.
